CDL-A City Truck Driver — $34.53/hr Starting

Our company needs a city driver in Goodland, KS to move freight between the service center and customer locations and help build the business along the way.

Pay

• Starts at $34.53 per hour

What you'll do

• Drive tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles and triples where applicable, as well as straight trucks

• Complete pre-trip and safety checks on your equipment each day

• Connect and disconnect trailers and converter dollies

• Load, unload and move freight with forklifts, pallet jacks and hand trucks

• Secure loads inside trailers using pallets, straps and rope, and fix damaged freight when needed

• Keep required paperwork and reports up to date, including hazmat compliance documents

• Collect payment for freight charges when required and track that documentation

• Stay in touch with dispatch about delays, arrivals and equipment issues, and follow their instructions

• Talk with customers about pickup and delivery needs, offer great service and flag new business leads to the sales team

• Chain tires when conditions call for it

• Step into dock or road driver duties when the operation needs it

• Follow all applicable laws, regulations and company rules

Requirements

• Class A CDL with double/triple, hazmat and tanker endorsements (hazmat endorsement must be obtained within 120 days of your offer; automatic transmission restriction is fine)

• One year of driving experience in the last three years, or completion of the our company Driver Development Course

• Clean MVR that meets hiring standards, and compliance with DOT/FMC Part 391 requirements

• If driving long combination vehicles (triples, Rocky Mountain Doubles or Turnpike Doubles) in AZ, CO, FL, ID, IN, KS, MT, ND, NV, OH, OK, OR, SD or UT, you must meet the LCV qualification and certification standards

• Basic math skills, with or without a calculator

• Clear written and verbal communication for logs and talking with coworkers and supervisors

• Able to lift and carry freight up to 100 pounds several times a week

• Able to sit for long stretches, bend, twist, squat and climb in and out of the truck

• Willing and able to complete required training and work solo or as part of a team

Working conditions

• Driving in all kinds of weather and road conditions throughout your shift

• Exposure to noise, vibration, dust, diesel fumes and DOT-regulated hazardous materials

• Schedule and hours can shift based on operational needs
