CDL-A City Pickup & Delivery Driver — $31.26/hr Starting

Our company in Urbana, IA needs a CDL-A driver to move freight between the service center and customer locations, while also supporting sales efforts.

Pay

• Starting rate: $31.26 per hour

What you'll do

• Drive tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles or triples where applicable, as well as straight trucks

• Complete daily pre-trip and safety equipment checks

• Connect and disconnect trailers and converter dollies

• Load and unload freight using forklifts, pallet jacks and hand trucks

• Secure loads with pallets, straps and rope, and fix damaged freight when needed

• Fill out required paperwork and reports

• Follow hazmat handling rules

• Collect payment for freight charges when required

• Stay in contact with dispatch about delays, arrivals or equipment issues

• Talk with customers about pickup and delivery needs, and flag potential new business to the sales team

• Chain tires when conditions call for it

• Fill in on dock or road driver duties as operations require

• Follow all applicable laws, regulations and company procedures

Requirements

• Class A CDL with double/triple, hazmat and tank endorsements (hazmat endorsement must be obtained within 120 days of hire; you can't drive without it until then)

• Automatic transmission restriction on your CDL is acceptable

• At least 1 year of driving experience in the last 3 years, or completion of the our company Driver Development Course

• Acceptable motor vehicle record per company hiring standards

• Must meet DOT qualification requirements under FMCSA Part 391

• If running Long Combination Vehicles (triples, Rocky Mountain Doubles, Turnpike Doubles) in AZ, CO, FL, ID, IN, KS, MT, ND, NV, OH, OK, OR, SD or UT, must meet LCV qualification and certification standards

• Basic math skills (calculator use is fine)

• Basic reading, writing and verbal communication skills

• Able to lift and carry freight up to 100 pounds several times a week

• Able to sit for long stretches and to bend, twist, squat and climb into/out of the truck

• Able to follow directions, complete required training, and work both independently and as part of a team

Working conditions

• Driving in all weather and road conditions throughout your shift

• Exposure to noise, vibration, dust and diesel exhaust

• Handling hazardous materials packaged and shipped per DOT rules

• Schedule and hours can shift based on business needs
