About this job
Our company, part of the Colas USA family of companies, needs a CDL-A truck driver in Sidney, NE to haul aggregate materials like soil, sand, gravel, and asphalt between job sites, production facilities, and customer locations.
What you'll do
- Haul construction materials using various trucks and trailer combinations, including belly dumps, side dumps, end dumps, and water trucks
- Run pre-trip and post-trip vehicle checks and flag any maintenance or safety issues right away
- Secure and block loads properly during transport
- Help load and unload materials, which may include running a loader or skid steer if you're qualified
- Fill out bills of lading, delivery tickets, and other paperwork accurately and on time
- Keep driver logs and inspection records current and compliant with state and federal rules
- Stay in touch with dispatch and supervisors about schedules, assignments, and site conditions
- Follow OSHA, FMCSA, and DOT rules along with company safety policies
Requirements
- Valid Class A CDL with the needed endorsements
- Valid DOT medical card
- High school diploma or GED preferred, or equivalent experience
- 2+ years of commercial driving experience preferred; construction or aggregate hauling background is a strong plus
- Clean driving record that meets FMCSA qualification standards
- Comfortable reading, writing, and communicating in English
- Able to wear required PPE and handle physical demands of the job, including sitting for long stretches, climbing in and out of vehicles, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working outdoors in varying weather and noise conditions
- Flexible availability for evenings, weekends, overtime, and occasional overnight travel
