Ford Transportation Services Ltd., a our company of Canada subsidiary based in Windsor, Ontario, is hiring a driver to move parts and finished vehicles between local plants and customer locations in Southeastern Michigan, crossing the US-Canada border multiple times a day.
What you'll haul
- Parts and finished materials moved between Windsor-area plants and customer sites in Southeastern Michigan
- Class 8 semi-trucks pulling 53-foot trailers
- Off-road switch tractor work, repositioning trailers between the storage yard and loading docks
Schedule
Expect staggered start times and afternoon shifts, with occasional Saturday or Sunday work.
Requirements
- Valid Ontario AZ license in good standing
- Clean CVOR driver abstract going back 3 years
- At least 3 years of recent, verifiable driving experience
- Valid FAST Card for border crossings
- Comfortable with 10-speed and 13-speed manual transmissions and various diesel trucks and tractor-trailers
- Working knowledge of Detroit-area streets and expressways, plus customs documentation procedures for international freight
- Must pass a DOT pre-employment drug test through a licensed Medical Review Officer
- Must enroll in the DOT cross-border drug and alcohol testing program and register with the FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse
- Random drug and alcohol testing applies
- A separate company driver qualification application is required once selected as a candidate
What the job involves
You'll keep accurate logbooks or trip sheets, follow Hours of Service rules, observe all safety and company policies, deal courteously with customer plant staff, and help flag vehicle service needs for the fleet.
